Why do people continue to go to Christian Death if Rozz isn’t there?

Today is the day Rozz Williams passed away in 1998. Every year on this day, I rewatch his videos on YouTube. But that's not what this post is about. This post is about what happened to Christian Death after Valor stole the band from Rozz. I don't understand why people continue to go to their concerts and festivals. Do you really want to support a thief?

Are there any more goth songs that sound like Riboflavin by 45 Grave?

Asides from recommendations, what (sub?)genre of goth music would this be assigned to ? 😖

are there any polish goth bands?

so i have a good friend from poland, and i think they’re very much qualified to be goth, but it’s really just a matter of getting them to identify with the culture. and fortunately they’ve liked all of the songs i’ve shown them though. sadly i don’t know any goth bands from there specifically, only some russian ones

does anyone have any good recommendations? 🙂

Is there a reason why I don’t really see all that many Goth bands of all kind use creepy/dark imagery anymore?

I understand that what I show is purely regarding the Batcave club but I feel bands and lots of artists don't go for this kind of imagery all that much, and this nowadays (or something similar to it) is mostly adopted like anywhere in the Black Metal community… I also understand that this is 80's stuff and lots went for the "horror movies" look of the time but I feel like lots of bands simply have a post-punk outfit/wibe to it from the 70's or minimalistic imagery that everyone complains that are generic "skull, crow, dark plants, basically the mainstream's idea of the look… Correct me if I'm wrong.

Is there a goth sound you wish to be more common?

As the title says, are there any bands (or even songs) that you listen to and think "damn, I need more of it" but there's very little or none at all?

  • Songs Avatar and Mesmerism by Dead Can Dance. A majestic duo of ethereal goth and world music. I think the secret is the layered reverberated guitar sound and use of ethnic instruments and the professional mixing. It's interesting how DCD were an inspiration for lots of bands, yet no one seem to be on the same level (and style) to these songs. The closest to this I've heard is Shallow Mists by Eden. Also I've forgot to mention another song by Dead Can Dance, Ocean. Melancholic, tragic, minimalistic and touching.

  • Xmal Deutschland. You can immediately recognize this band by howling voice of Anja Huwe drowning within heavily reverberated guitars and tribal drums which makes you feel like you're having a concert in an abandoned cathedral haunted by banshees. The closest to this sound is the contemporary Brazilian band Rakta. Also I'd like to mention Chvenie Absolútna album by Slovakian band Ľahká Múza – it's actually ethereal wave, but has the right amount of howling and reverberation.

Is there a term for someone new in the goth scene?

Just like how teens are known as "baby bats" is there something for someone who's older who's getting into the scene?

Is there anything else like Fields Of The Nephilim’s album “Elizium”.

I know it had a Pink Floyd influence but besides that I was thinking any other bands and even artists. I have come across some bands that sounded close enough like Lycia (Well kind of). I would say it doesn't have to be goth but that would probably break the second rule.

There is absolutely no scene where I live and it’s frustrating

I live in a small city in Spain, and there is nothing to do as a goth. There are rock clubs, but they won't play the slightest bit of post-punk, goth rock or any other related subgenres. It's so frustrating.

The worst part is that this entire country lacks goth scene everywhere. Big cities (Madrid and Barcelona) have a few goth nights every now and then, that's it. I believe in Barcelona there's a bit more going on (never been there), but still, it feels completely dead.

I think there are a lot of frustrated goths in Spain, just like me. It isn't that rare and we have some nice local bands. But where is the scene? I just want to have fun in a goth club, dress up and dance to my favourite music :/

Anyone who is in this situation (I know there are people as it's a common topic in this sub hehe): write about it. What do you do to enjoy music outside? How do you meet other goths?

And for the ones who live in places with a goth scene: where is it? Tell us frustrated people your tales. Make us jelaous

I just wanna hear your thoughts ^
